Will need to re-name this blog

John was looking over my shoulder while I was writing the blog tonight and said "This Crazy Life huh?  Is it a blog about your life? Because in that case it should be called Our Laid back and Easy Going Life. "

So if I can figure out how to edit it I will.

Deck the Halls...

Our house is all set for Christmas

For the past two years John and I have gone to a local tree farm to cut down our tree.  Again we walked all around in the mud to find the perfect one. I wanted a 12 footer, but John told me no. I still think we could have gotten at least another foot.

The stocking are hung by the chimney with care.  We put Miley's new toys in her stocking early, she goes up to it every night and sniffs it, just to make sure her toys are still there.
Now we just have to wait a few more days to open all the presents.

California Bridal Shower

Back in November my maid of honor Ashley and her mom hosted a beautiful bridal shower. Here are some pictures.

Every detail was perfect and there was so much attention to detail. The table was set with the fine china
Every detail was customized, from the water bottles the favors.
There was a fashion show after lunch, I am sad that there are no pictures. Viv made my very favorite dish chicken marsala, boiled potatoes, backed parsnips and salad.
After lunch there was a fashion show. The bridesmaid showed off their dresses

And then there was a toilet paper wedding dress contest.
I think my sister is ready to be a bride herself

Then we had dessert, and it was so amazing! Scratch made Pavlova and pumpkin cheesecake

It was such a great day and I can not thank Viv and Ashley enough for all their hard work.

White Winters... A holiday charity tradition.

Last night John and I went to  a great party at Ladd Towers in downtown Portland. One of John's fraternity brothers Ramon and his fiance Michelle put it on. Guest were asked to dress in white and bring an unwrapped toy to be given to a children's charity.
John was very excited to wear all white, he wore a white tux to his senior prom and has been itching to rock that style again. He actually really wanted to wear a white tux to our wedding but I said no.

Finding white pants, in the dead of winter, in the NW, is a pretty impossible. I finally found a pair on clearance at the golf store. If you asked me John is "totally pulling it off"
John really enjoyed catching up with all his old fraternity brothers.
Thanks Ramon and Michelle! It was such a great night.
They collected over 60 presents to be donated to the charity.

Bridal Shower

I was very fortunate to have not only one but two bridal showers. One was in San Diego put on by my maid of honor Ashley and her Mom (blog post pending until I get some pictures). The other was in Portland Oregon and put on by my mother in law and two sister in laws.  Here are a few pictures from the one in Oregon.
Cupcakes made by Jeanie Fast. Tea from Teavana (I must have had 12 cups).

Everyone playing the Bride and Groom Trivia Game. It was won by Claire, which was a little unfair because we practically lived with her for 2 years.
I felt so blessed to be surrounded by so many loving family and friends. I was also a little bit overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.  I am still trying to find homes for all the amazing things we received.

Something special for the groom. Santa Thong.. from his mother!
All set! You are looking at the future Mrs. Anhorn.
Thank you so much for everyone who came, it was so great to see everyone.
I can't wait for the big day.. 48 days

Friends thanksgiving

This is the second year we have held the annual friends Thanksgiving. There was lots of great food, lots of left overs, great friends, good beer and lots of football. Beavers won and the Ducks lost . We almost had to cancel it because we don't have Comcast's PAC 12 network, but luckily Kyle could stream it over the Internet.
Can't wait for next year

Wedding dress shopping

The wedding dress is a pretty important part of the wedding. Plus it's probably the single most expensive piece of clothing you will ever buy. Let the Craziness begin.

This is me wearing my future Mother In Laws Dress. pretty but not really my style
have to admit I wasn't too excited about going wedding dress shopping, but my wedding planner insisted that I go to David's Bridal to start the process in March. Here are a few pictures from that day. Maybe a little too muuh fluff

Oh Vera Wang.. You disappoint me

EHHHH not so much my style

Still not my style, even with the black belt. Oh in case you were wondering what was going on with my shoulder, I had some cupping down a few days before and those were the marks that were left.

Ehhh maybe? The veil was nice

Trying on dresses is a lot of work. David's bridal was a huge bust. But my bridesmaid Michelle and I had a good time.

Here are a few more dresses from another dress shopping day.

None of these dresses were "THE ONE" And you are going to have to wait until the wedding to see what I picked out.

The Proposal

Since I started a blog about the wedding and our life after, I figured we were missing a bunch of events leading up to the wedding. The proposal was a pretty big step. John and I have been together for a just over 4 years now. We had been talking about getting married for a while and it wasn't a question of if but when. I wasn't really in any hurry, almost every single one of our friends had gotten married in the past year or so. I had graduated from chiropractic school in September of 2011, by December of 2011 I was working hard to build my practice. I had volunteered to work new years eve thinking I could see a few people and then enjoy the rest of the day. To my surprise, I ended up seeing a full day of patients.  I called John to let him know that I would be running late to catch up on paperwork, but he insisted that I come home immediately ( I was working in Canby Or at the time and it was a 40+ min commute home).

On the front porch there were 2 roses and this note

I did what I was told. I walked into the house and John had votive candles lining the stair cases. There were also probably 100 more candles lighting the house. As I made my way downstairs to the guest room I found that he had left different items out of the bed
The Note explained the meaning of each one of the items. It was really touching and by this point I could hardly read through the tears.
I go up stairs to the office and on the desk is another rose and this note. He had written down about 15 reasons why he loved me

My next stop was the deck in our back yard. I go out the sliding glass doors and there is a blank piece of paper, a rose and 2 candles. I say "Hello????" And at that moment this appears in our backyard

The next thing I know John is by my side, with a dozen roses, down on one knee saying lots of nice things, I have no idea what he actually said but I am sure the words "Will you Marry Me" were some of them. Because I said "Of Course"

Then he placed this beautiful ring (that he picked out himself).  On my hand
And that's the story of how we got engaged.

Wedding invites

Getting Ready for the Wedding!

We just received our beautiful wedding invitations made by the wonderful Katie Greer. I met with Katie a few months ago with a few images from pinterest. I am not exactly sure how she designed them exactly like I wanted ( I really didn't give her much to go off of) but she really pulled through.   They are just so perfect I can't wait for all our guests to receive them.

She put everything together for me right down to the bows and she even addressed all 78 invites. After having to do 2 myself, I am so glad she did!
I spent today putting all the stamps on them, and now they are ready to go.

What's even crazier is that our wedding is just 10 weeks away. I really better start hitting the gym.
