The castle tour

We started our day off in a down pour. I was glad john was driving because you could hardly see anything.
We made our way through afew small towns and cities. Everything was pretty sleepy, it was a German holiday so stores were a,l closed.
It took us just under 2 hours to the castles. The castles were built by Ludwig the 2nd. This castle was onl about 1/3 done and had taken 17 years to complete so far. He had only lived I the castle for 152 days before the parliament had determined him "mad". He was being interviewed by a doctor by a lake near Munich when he and the doctor were found dead. Just 6 weeks later the government started tours I the castle.
We had to hike up the hill, which took us about 40 min.
View from the bridge.
This picture was taken by our friends the day before, I think it's a bit better since it's not so cloudy.

Mikes bike tour

We started our day with breakfast in our apartment. I walked a few blocked to the grocery store and picked up some muscil ( granola), mike, eggs and some fruit.mjohn did a load of laundry in the basement. 3 euro for the washer and 3 euro for the dryer.  We enjoyed a quiet morning relaxing on the deck.
We met our guides in the middle of town. Kyle was our tour guide. He was originally from Southern California. My first impression was that he was a dumb surfer kid, but I was wrong. He graduated college with a major in history and he knew so many facts about everywhere we went.
The bike tour was a great way to see all the sights.
At each stop Kyle told us some of the history and why the monument was important.
We road through the english garden. Complete  with River, beer garden, nudist section, and surfers. I wish we had miley there with us, she would have loved this enormous park, especially because she could swim I the river.
We had lunch at the beer garden, the 2nd largest in the world, holding up to 10,000 people.  We ordered way to much food.
The urban surfers were so much fun to watch. Made me want to jump in and try.
This was a beautiful white church. It was not destroyed by the 2nd world war.
This is the parlement building. The sides are glass to show the transparency of the government, the sides were destroyed in WWII
More pictures of the park.
The peace angle. Behind here is the wealthiest neighborhood in munich.
After our tour we were so tired. We stopped at the store and picked up some lettuce and veggies for dinner. We both took a little nap and just watched movies at our apartment.

Munich

We spent the morning driving from Prague to munich. It was about 225 miles and took us just about 4 hours to get there.
I also finally let john drive my car.
We needed to top off our tank and put another 70 euro in it. We got to munich around 2 and were not going to meet our host from our rental until 5. We walked around trying to find somewhere to eat. We ended up at an ice cream shop and the owner said that they would make us some sandwiches even though they were no longer serving lunch.
As we went to pay, they said they only accept cash. Since we were out of euros john had to go find an atm. The owner was so nice and offered to allow us to return later to pay, but I satay end as john went on an adventure.  After settling our bill we asked what we should do. The owner suggested we take the u- ban a few stops to the city center.
We bought 2 tickets and headed out.

There is a big soccer  today and the square was nuts! People cheering and dancing everywhere.
We stopped at an outside beer garden and had our first Munich beer.
It was crazy how many people were out drinking beer at 3 o'clock on a Tuesday
We checked in with our host Michael and he showed us around the apartment.
It's pretty small but is very clean and has everything we need.
It has a great little Terrance that I am sitting on writing this post.
After checking in we headed back out to the city center. We wanted to stop at the famous beer house, HofbrÀuhaus. This beer hall has been here for 400 years and can hold up to 4,000 people
It had 4 floors, 2 live bands and people and beer everywhere.
We got a giant pretzel and a giant beer and enjoyed the scene
These are lockers for your beer stein. It's almost impossible to get one of these and it is often left in someone's will.
We met a nice couple from Orange County, heather and mark and hung out with them all evening. They suggested we do a bike tour, mikes bike so that is what we will be doing today.

Our last day in Prague

We spend the morning up at the castle. It was pretty packed with tourist. John found out that there were 6,000 visitors a day, which means 1.3 million visitors a year.
We walked up the stairs, 209 to be exact ( I counted on the way up)
We were both a bit winded by the time we got to the top. The cathedral was pectacular.
 So many stained glass windows
There was an adorable little street within the castle walls. The houses were so tiny and cute ( they are now all tourist shops).   here I am standing next to the front door of one, as you can se I a, taller then the door.
This is the grand hall of the castle
A painting in the castle. We don't have many pictures from within the castle because photography is not allowed.

After walking all morning we were pretty tired of seeing buildings and castle. So John and I headed our separate ways. He wanted to go to cross fit and I wanted to take an arial yoga class.

I stopped the the coco cafe to blog and get a treat. I ordered an iced coffee and crissont. She must have mis understood me because I got coffee with ice cream ( and whipped cream) and crissont with a cup of delicious rich chocolate. I sat in the cafe for over an hour, blogging and relaxing. Then I headed off for my yoga class.
It was about a 15 min walk from our hotel. It was located on the 7th floor.
There were only 2 of us in the class. The class was fun, but spending so much time upside down was not good for me after eating that ice cream and crissont. But I managed to make it through the entire 1.5 hour class. It was just what I needed after so much walking.
John headed off to the crossfit gym. He needed to take the train. He mapped out his route and purchased a train ticket for about $3. He left giving himself 50 min to get there. He could not find train 14 to save his life. He finally asked someone and headed to the other side of town, the crossfit gym was in a questionable part of town.the gym was in the basement of the building. John got there 2 min before it started.
After our work outs we went out for a light dinner. Then we stopped at the coco cafe again and had macaroons and tea.

We wondered around town and soaked up the views on our last night.
Good bye Prague.. I hope to see you again.
